More Black Alumnae
There are dozens of other Black Butler Alumnae who remain undocumented, aside from their names and sometimes faces in yearbook photographs. In its earliest days, Butler University did not maintain records relating to the race of its students. Many of the alumae identified for this project were done so by sight, based on photographs available in yearbooks and through mentions in The Butler Collegian or other publications which mentioned their race. While the best efforts were made, some students may have been missed due to a lack of records. This exhibit recognizes their accomplishments, and hopes to highlight avenues for continued research.
