Rotation and Reflections

Item

Title
Rotation and Reflections
Description
Original design
Signed in center square. Dated lower right.

“I made this wall hanging to display in my high
school mathematics classroom. I wanted to help
my students learn how to identify the number
of degrees of rotation it would take to have
the quilt look exactly the same as it was hanging.
I also wanted them to identify how many lines
of reflection are in the quilted piece. In other
words, where can lines be drawn so that each
side of the line is a mirror image of the other.
I used a stencil to mark the quilting design in
the border.” -- Doug Vendrely
