Abstract

This student spotlight explores LT Caroline Kernan, DO’s experience with the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) and her path from MU-WCOM to ophthalmology residency in the U.S. Navy. The article highlights the structure and commitments of HPSP, military medical training and residency, Kernan’s experiences caring for service members and their families, and her advice for students considering military medicine.
