Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

Any current undergraduate student, graduate student or faculty member from any institution of higher education may submit an original, scholarly and empirical or theoretical research paper for review for possible publication in the Journal of Integrative Behavioral Science (JIBS). JIBS will utilize a broad definition of research as reflected by various disciplines in the social sciences. The submission must incorporate a component of psychology, and can be integrated with social, biological, and theological sciences. Manuscripts that do not meet originality requirements or represent scholarly research will be rejected without peer-review. At this time, JIBS will accept and publish papers in English only.

Authors must own the copyright to their work and must guarantee that submitted manuscripts have not been published elsewhere, are not currently under review elsewhere, and have been submitted with the full knowledge of their institutional home including any potential co-researchers and faculty mentors. All manuscripts will be reviewed based on intellectual content without regard for age, gender, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, country of origin, or political philosophy of the authors.

JIBS will publish manuscripts through the university Digital Commons which has the technical capability to host video (or audio) when appropriate as part of research or scholarship. Students are encouraged to publish any video to YouTube as well as archive it in the journal on Digital Commons — the video would be embedded on the page with a copy that could be downloaded from Digital Commons. Contact the editors for further information.

Submitted papers will be reviewed by faculty with general and specialized expertise in the field of study represented by the work. Final decision about whether to publish any paper will be made by the editorial advisory board and by the editors. Their decision is final.
