COE Winners 2023

April 21, 2023 - Contribution of Excellence (COE) Winners for 2023

Contribution of Excellence Award:  Each year, aρετή (Arete): Journal of Excellence in Global Leadership, awards one submission the Contribution of Excellence Award.  A committee was formed to select the COE winner based on criteria that included: 1) Global Impact, 2) Cross-disciplinary, 3) Relevance, 4) Thought-provoking, 5) Innovativeness, 6) cultural Awareness, and 7) Diversity.  The committee was comprised of faculty from Iowa State University, California Lutheran University, and Missouri State University. The Dean of Business and Leadership and Director of the Global Leadership Institute, Lamprini Pantazi, Ph.D. served as the tie-breaker.

One reviewer said this of the winning manuscript:

"All of the articles were thought-provoking and worthy of merit, making the choice difficult.  This article meets the criteria because it is global in that the tool could be applied to any university anywhere, that wish to track cultural competencies. It is relevant due to its focus on cultural competencies, and the barriers to this construct which has growing importance in our global society. The article is thought provoking. It is innovative to say the least, given the creation of a new tool to trace cultural competency and its extensive Excel usage and the video demonstrating the SLOTT tool was quite helpful. And of course, cultural awareness and diversity are both at the core of the article.  I selected the Potts and Michels research article because it met many of the award criteria" (Selection Committee member)
